I want to thank Bob for introducing me to this on line method of learning as well as helping me learn to analyze what I am doing and think more critically. As well as giving us an overview of some theories on critical thinking and how to teach and apply them. I don't have a definite plan to put all these in place, but know I will use these skills in the future, even if learning to support my arguments with my husband.

Hello,

I thank you again for this interesting and challenging class that has helped me understand my own thinking and that of those around me. I found all of the topics to be relevant and well presented and I found the flow of each week's theme to fit together well. I was often thinking about past lessons with each new topic and seeing how they connect to one another. The supplementary articles were a good follow-ons to the text and the Bradford article and interview are excellent additions to the curriculum.

Best wishes and thank you to everyone in the class!

I signed up for this course just after I submitted my application to the Critical and Creative Thinking Master’s Program. I thought that I would take the course to be sure that this was indeed an academic area that I was interested in pursuing for my degree. From the very first class I was hooked. I enjoyed this course immensely. The course textbook was wonderful. The articles were easy to read and meaningful. This will be a textbook that I use as reference for years to come, not one that finds the trash can. I also enjoyed having a buddy for the course. I worked with at least three different people during the course of the class so it was interesting to get their different perspectives on topics.

The topics discussed in the course were applicable to my profession, personal life, and coaching career. I thought that the readings and assignments associated to each topic were very beneficial. My favorite assignment was listening to the Allyn Bradford interview. I found the information that he shared very informative and enlightening. I look forward to the opportunity to take a course with him in the future.

I hope to build on what I have learned in this course as I move forward in the Critical and Creative Thinking program. I look forward to exploring more in depth some of the topics that we touched on in class such as problem based learning, creative thinking, and teamwork.

I hope to be able to share some of the information at work with my co-workers and on the soccer field with my players. I truly believe that the athletic field is a great place to teach some of the critical and creative thinking skills we have discussed. I was already incorporating some of these concepts although I did not know the formal names. Now I have more knowledge and tools to employ.

Whenever I take a class, whether it is a professional education course, a coaching course, or an academic course, I believe that if I can walk away with one or two concepts that I can utilize, the course has been a success. Based on that standard, this course has been a huge success. I am more aware of my thinking and my processes as a result of this class. I have used a number of the skills that we discussed in the class on a daily basis. As I wrote in one of my previous assignments, I feel like my job title could be “critical thinker”.

I have always valued certain skills in myself and others such as problem solving and decision making abilities. I thought that these skills were innate and could not be taught. I am happy to say that I was very wrong. These skills can and must be taught to all students. As an educator, it is my responsibility to teach these skills to the students and athletes with whom I work.

Thank you Bob for a great class!

Re:General Comments

The class has given me a lot of confidence. I never trusted my own intellect but since going through this class, I am beginning to. Once again, my sincere thanks.

Hello everyone! I enjoyed this class very much. It is my first time taking an on-line class and it won't be my last. I like the conveinence of going to class in my pajamas. Some strong points from the class are working in collaborative groups. I learned a lot about how other people think and other perspectives that I may have never thought of myself. I am taking another critical thinking class next semester with Allen Bradford who we are all familar with now, so I'm looking forward to that. I enjoyed the assignments given because they required critical thinking on various levels. I'm sure I will learn a lot more in my next critical thinking class. I find that critical thinking is benefical for my career and personal life

Thank you again for designing and running an effective online course in
critical thinking. It sounds as if others also got a lot out of the course.
For me with so many personal changes it was heaven sent to have new tools to
manage the stress and to more rationally process what I had been mired in
for so long. I am still unpacking and clarifying and will surely be doing so
for some time and am eternally grateful for the course and your instruction.
From your comments, posts and course outline I can see you have much more to share from your study and
experiences. Thank you for sharing and caring!

Best to you-

David

This was the first total online class that I have taken. I was a little confused at first as to the procedures, but after that was settled, I really enjoyed the long distance interaction both with the group and my buddy. I believe that I was able to learn a lot through this class, especially honing my own thinking skills. Thank you Bob for your patience. Everyone have a wonderful holiday

Hello Bob,

This is my final paper.  Thank you for everything--your patience, your

thoughtfulness, your organization of the course.  You are a fantastic

instructor.

Best regards,

The content of this coures was especially timely for me. During this class I feel I have made some major steps towards better thinking. As a result of this new thinking, I have a new job, I started an exercise routine and a business, reorganized my finances, distanced myself from negative influences and I have been dating. I want to thank you all for the input and support that I have received during this class. It truly made a difference. It seems to be the process and the satisfaction that it brings me that is important rather than the big goals right now. I am sure I have a just scratched the surface and can learn much more about myself and others so that goals and sharing this knowledge are integrated into my thinking.

Best of luck to everyone in using the skills we learned!

Michelle

Hi Bob,

Your course in Critical Thinking has raised my awareness and practice of critical thinking. Through the semester I have incorporated as many pieces of critical thinking that I felt comfortable with in the course I am teaching.

The readings from the course text to E-reserves to web articles were enlightening, informative and practical. The discussion board, Allyn Bradford's interview and Centra stored many wonderful pieces of critical thinking. It has been an assest to be able to go back and reference points others have contributed. That is one of several advantages in an on-line course, such as yours, I value. I look forward to a Critical Thinking II in the future.

 Many Thanks,

 Nancy Baccari

I agree that the course met its objectives. I am much more aware of CT skills and strategies, and I am able to apply them to many areas of my own life. As a counselor, I have found myself using CT to assess difficult situations, as well as taking a look at how I interact with patients.

It sounds as though the class, including myself, enjoyed the course thoroughly. It was a nice introduction to the world of CT. Anytime the effects of a course can be seen immediately in my own life, I feel it is a worthwhile
