Teaching in the Key of CCT

CCT Community Open House, Monday, April 1, 2013
Free and open to all. Refreshments provided. Guests and prospective students welcome, in person or by Google hangout.

This session explores issues related to extending the teaching of critical and creative thinking beyond the traditional face-to-face classroom. Special attention will be given to shifting dynamics around the role of the teacher and learner given the ongoing developments in blended and online learning including alternative learning communities that emerge around "connectivist MOOCs" (http://bit.ly/164uqkJ).

The main part of the session will involve a rapid Problem-Based Learning activity, where participants a) review brief items that summarize some of these key issues, b) reflect upon their own experiences, c) address a series of questions through small-group discussion and individual internet searches around the issues and start to make sense of how to address them; and d) reconvene in the wider group to share and connect insights being raised and questions to be followed later.
