CCT All-student Virtual Meeting - Fall 2013 Semester

Monday, September 9th, 7:00-8:30pm EDT on Skype.
All CCT students are invited to join our virtual meeting (via Skype) to start off the fall 2013 semester. You will have a chance to meet fellow students across the CCT program, hear about program updates, and participate in a brief activity/discussion around developing our Reflective Practice Portfolios as well as developing the CCT on- and off-campus student community. Please RSVP to cct@umb.edu with a confirmation of your Skype name.

7:00: Overview of session and introductions
7:30: Reflective Practice Portfolio activity and discussions
8:30: all-student meeting ends; online meeting continues only for students taking CRCRTH 688 Reflective Practice course

7:00: Session begins

• 1. Session overview

• 2. Autobiographical introductions (all participants), in relation to the questions:
  • a. How/when did you hear about the CCT program, and what was your first impression?
  • b. How did you then decide that a study of critical and creative thinking fits in with your life and work? What situation or circumstances of your life moved you toward the point of deciding that you wanted to join the program?

• 3. Reflective practice - summary of portfolios

• 4. Reflective practice activity:
  • a. Guided Freewriting: Think about some specific change that you've made in your work or life in the past few months - not simply a change of circumstances, but something that you've chosen to change because you wanted to improve the way that you did something (even something small). Think about what you intended to happen, what did/is happening now, and what you plan to do next. Take a few minutes to write what comes to mind.
  • b. Brief sharing of stories from a few volunteers

• 5. (if time) General discussion: developing the CCT community

Outside of individual courses, are there ways that you would like to be able to connect with others in the CCT community? How do you hope to access others across the CCT community as a resource for your development?
