This activity fosters connections among participants in a workshop at an early stage once following an activity where participants have introduced themselves to each other for the first time (for example, through Autobiographical Introductions or some other turn-taking process involving sharing of personal experience or perspective). Once the speaker finishes, each of the listeners takes a moment to write down any Connections (where the listener relates to a point made by the speaker) or Curiosities (where the listener would like to learn more, even on points where the listener doesn't share the speaker's experience or where they would be interested to learn more about something left unsaid or something to be clarified further). Each speaker receives all of the listener comments after the meeting once they are compiled. For this kind of feedback, names are included in the listener comments (in case the speaker wants to follow up directly to one of them, but there is no expectation that speakers directly respond to comments or questions, at least not right away).
The purpose of the feedback is to show that participants already have histories and shared experiences or perceptions that can become fundamental to growing relationships within the group.
