Student Matters

Students should note that the add/drop/change deadline for spring 2013 courses is Tuesday, February 19th. Other important dates for spring:
Deadline to apply for May graduation: March 15
Summer registration begins: April 1
Course Withdraw deadline: April 11

CCT Community
In January Peter Taylor facilitated the innovation component of a 2-day workshop sponsored by Cancer Care Ontario in which researchers in epidemiology, behavioral science, and other fields met in Toronto to develop a agenda for new approaches in health intervention research.

CCT Community Open House: Our Lives and Other Worlds - presentations from CCT alums
Monday, March 4, 6:45-9:00pm, Campus Center 3545
Please join us and hear from CCT program alums. as they present on their work and lead discussions related to extending critical and creative thinking beyond the formal program of studies. Skype participation possible to those who RSVP to cct@umb.edu by Friday, March 1. Free and open to all, including prospective students and guests.

Alum and CCT associates Notes
Elizabeth Naylor (CCT '08) has released her new book, +100: A Mother, Wife, and Survivor's Journey, a story of "strength, survival, and spirit" about her journey as a survivor of cancer.

Catherine Weber (CCT '99) co-led a Collaborative Creation Workshopon February 15th, an experience involving the creative process and the gathering of visual artists and writers to inspire each other to create new work, which will be exhibited from March 8 - 21 at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts, 98 Hayden Row St., Hopkinton, MA.

Aimee (Blaquiere) Ladner (CCT '10) continues to sing in a musical duet with her father, Paul and has performed at UMass Boston's Talented U events and elsewhere.

Learning in Action: 3rd Annual Symposium on Teacher Education
May 11, 2013, 9:00am-1:00pm at UMass Boston
Sponsored by the College of Education and Human Development and Department of Curriculum & Instruction
After nearly twenty years in combined operation, the UMB Teacher Education Programs and Teach Next Year (TNY), the Boston Teacher Residency (BTR) and Boston Science Partnership continue to strive to improve the preparation of urban teachers as well as the learning outcomes of their students. The Learning in Action Symposium will celebrate their accomplishments and ongoing investigation of teaching by bringing together current students, residents, teachers and UMB faculty in an event designed to multiply learning.
