CCT Synthesis Binding (5/09, with checklist for finishing)

Graduating students must submit:

¥ an electronic version in Word format that incorporates scanned diagrams, pictures and material you are using from other sources.  (Less desirable alternative to electronic version: Submit one loose-leaf, single-sided original of your entire synthesis on archival paper.)

¥ two copies bound at Central Reprographics, Admin. Bldg., lowerlevel room #24 with black tape binding and with front and back covers on firmer red stock.

Electronic submission: via http://www.quinngraphics.umb.edu/avnet/

Create a new account ("New User Click Here" and follow the instructions closely), and then eventually get into the "Basic Printing Request" link.  You then have choices to make about the request – but mostly choose the defaults -- and you specify the number of copies to print, "cash" in the speedtype field, and Tape With Spine Printing for the "binding" option.  Use the Special Instructions field to specify that you want printed in UPPER CASE BLOCK LETTERS on the tape binding:

YOURLASTNAME  SHORTTITLE(60 characters including spaces) M.A. THEYEAROFYOURGRADUATION

e.g.,

TAYLOR       FOSTERING CRITICAL THINKING ABOUT SCIENCE AND SOCIETY       M.A. 2004

Submit two files - the full synthesis and a single one-page doc with your title page to be repeated on the cover.  Make sure to specify the red cover that is used for thesis/synthesis works, and they will know what that means.  The cost for a bound copy will be approx. $3 plus 6c/page.  You can pay on pickup.

If your document will be really large (in MB) you may have to physically carry in a burned CD or flash drive.

The electronic version (or the unbound archival paper original) remains on file and is used by the Program to make copies in the future when people request them.  One bound copy is kept in the CCT office for future students to borrow; the other is deposited in the curriculum library on the 5h floor of the Healey Library.  In addition, unless you ask for it to be withheld, an electronic copy of the synthesis can be linked as a PDF file to your abstract on the CCT website.  (This will increase the potential readership of your work significantly.)
