Some Possible Principles of Design to be Considered When "Designing for Life"

  1. Be curious; take the time to follow your questions into deep areas.
  2. Know your priorities; make choices based on your priorities rather than your momentary impulses.
  3. Iterate often: try things many times and refine your approach each time; make small, incremental changes.
  4. Be interdependent.
  5. Try out new things and take unfamiliar directions. Experiment (and/or create prototypes).
  6. Reframe problems - try to find new ways to describe problems; change the words or point of view.
  7. Make time for joy and play.
  8. When you think you have nothing or don't know what to do, do something. Take a small but deliberate action.
  9. Be kind to yourself in the face of mistakes, defeat, failure. Appreciate your progress.
  10. Focus on process more, focus on content less.
  11. Ask for help; seek feedback; get clarity through the perspective of others.
  12. ...others that you think of...
