Week 5 Plan:

Class Meeting:
Monday, October 16th, 4:00-6:45pm ET on campus and in Zoom.

Review of Theme 1 products and process. Other administrative reminders as needed. Questions for group discussion.
Overview and instructor notes on Theme 2.
Freewriting/Discussion on proprioceptive writing/thinking/listening and "Ways of Seeing".
Individual activity and small group/pair discussions to explore key questions around Theme 2.

Assignments Due Next Week:

1. Readings:

a. Read all of the the following items over the next two weeks (pace yourself to get some finished by our Oct. 23rd class meeting and the rest by Oct. 30th.)
McCaslin, Chapter 13: Storytelling (from Creative Drama in the Classroom)
Morgan, What is Narrative Therapy?
Bateson, Composing a Life Story (from Willing to Learn)

b. OPTIONAL: according to your time and interest, over the next two weeks, continue with Berger's "Ways of Seeing" series, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4.

2. Identify a short story that is meaningful to you and already familiar to you, and bring it with you/have it available when you come to class next week to be used in an activity that we'll do in week 6.

3. Note that the due date for the required course instructor conference is next week, Monday, October. 23rd. At the least, schedule the conference by then, even if you can't hold the conference before that day. Use the link on the main page of the wiki to schedule (or else contact the instructor to find another time if that given schedule does not work for you or if you require a face-to-face meeting).

4. Continue to work toward development of ideas and plans around your Theme 2 Written/Creative Product. As you did with Theme 1, start to identify high-quality resources/readings on your own to help contribute to your thinking and establish a direction. Be prepared to discuss this in your instructor conference. Also, confirm the system or process that you will use to gather notes, keep track of readings planned or completed, and maintain your ongoing list of Principles and Practices.

5. Continue with weekly entries in your Literature/Arts Reflection Journal.
