All of the bits and passions of things that emerge and somehow or other relate. There's a holistic quality to that.
Faculty are part of a community, so if you want faculty at the university to treat students well, you have to treat faculty well.
Breaking down barriers that interfere with interpersonal relationships and everything having to do with teaching and learning.
Never trivialize a student's question.
Timely reimbursement of faculty expenses.
Freewriting.
As an urban university, trying to cultivate the issues of alienation, isolation which seem to be endemic, seem to be a tremendous challenge.
Teaching & mentoring can happen both ways -- up and down.

I came to realize that I do have a critical mass of caring colleagues in my department and I'm so happy.
Building community through generosity.
Theme of open transparency.
Emphasis on being positive.
Academics of the heart and the kinds of appreciation for what it means to teach here that draws on our generosity for virtuous circles rather than vicious circles.
I love the idea that here we can begin to coordinate and have our colleagues help us shape...
Reminder to me that being in the program and working here means what I love from the program.
There's a lot of passion behind intellectual ... beginning to break down a lot of barriers and get together in more informal ways...all the other parts of the semester.
How important it is to focus on process as well as product.
Create a safe environment where people are comfortable saying what's on their mind.
Attitude of breaking out of university silos.
Creating opportunities for others to benefit from the generosity that we have.
Hope in a time of constrained resources and high expectations.
Be our authentic selves as we play out our various roles.
Two things - promote good citizenship, and also...
Promote the golden rule.
Developing strategies for connecting in a changing world.
Valuing the time for creating space to gather and reflect.
I appreciate Peter showing us how to use our new UMB wikispaces to capture and extend our dialogue and to grow further collaboration.
One can get away with doing a lecture by not doing a lecture.
