1. Introduction

• This session = CCT not Science & Society side of Peter Taylor [altho' they do overlap]
• Principle
  • Participants in any group always already know a lot about the topic at hand, even if that has to be brought up to the surface of their attention.
• Accomplishments of other Teachers [blue cards] [to illustrate the principle, as an alternative to PT telling you about what constitutes good teaching, and as a way to appreciate others when an award singles out one person]

2. Caring University

• pertinent issue [always pertinent as we support the inclusion & development of diverse students & colleagues], but especially now in times of constrained resources and heightened expectations]
• definition by negative examples [purple cards] [also to get the negative out of our system]
• freewriting on engaging colleagues (photo,photo2)
• towards a "code of conduct" (think-pair-share, green cards)
• provisional conclusion from session
  • Diversity of angles on the topic.
  • PT: Support people to do the best work they can within constrained circumstances
• intro to PT's thoughtpieces on "working in and changing Academic Organizations"
• What next? -- Academics Who Care group or faculty seminar -- if interested print email on yellow cards or email PT]
